Laser Energy Meter (Joulemeter) with Real-Time Data Storage and Analysis in 40 kHz Repetition Rate

The new laser energy meter from Artifex Engineering sets a new standard in high repetition rate precision measurement.

This instrument measures, stores and analyses data from two independent measurement heads in real-time at a record breaking 40 kHz repetition rate. The data from both channels are simultaneously stored in a ring buffer and are tagged for correlated analysis.

Typical applications are found in micro-materials processing where the laser energy and the process itself (for example, a plasma generated) must be monitored shot for shot. Using the integrated real-time comparator analysis, the process can be monitored for functional errors – even from single shots. In the event that an error occurs, the two data logs can be downloaded to a PC via the USB bus for in-depth analysis.

Each data point in the logs are tagged allowing 1-to-1 correlation of each measurement from the two heads. Thus, normalized measurements such as the transmission of optical materials are readily made. The large beam aperture of 23mm allows use with most commercial solid-state and excimer lasers.

Applications in the online monitoring of pulsed laser systems such as for micro-materials processing are predestined for this instrument.
